Bistari Binti Mahmood
Bistari Binti Mahmood is a leading environmental education practitioner with over 25 years of experience in conservation education, biodiversity protection, community engagement, and capacity building. As Head of the Conservation Education and Training Division at Sarawak Forestry Corporation, she leads strategic educational programmes that promote sustainable natural resource management across Sarawak through Communication, Education and Public Awareness (CEPA) frameworks.
Throughout her career, Bistari has developed education modules for diverse audiences, delivered "Train-the-Trainer" capacity programmes, and built strategic partnerships with international bodies, government agencies, and NGOs. Her key initiative contributions include the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS 2030) Forestry Sector, the Global Wildlife Program (Malaysia), the BP3 Community Ranger Programme, and community engagement for UNESCO Niah National Park and BIMP-EAGA.
An experienced speaker and facilitator, Bistari has represented Sarawak Forestry Corporation globally, including at the ASEAN Flyway Network CEPA Learning Forum in Singapore (2025), the Global Wildlife Program Exchange Workshop in South Africa (2025), and CITES implementation workshops.
She holds a Bachelor of Forestry Science (Park Management and Recreation) and a Diploma in Agriculture from Universiti Putra Malaysia, and is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration at iCATS University College, Sarawak.
